You've found your new favourite wand. Now let's keep it that way. Good care takes about a minute, and it keeps the silicone soft, the motor happy and the battery going strong.
1. Clean it after every use
All our wands have a soft, body-safe silicone head, which makes cleaning easy.
- Switch it off first.
- Wash the head and handle with warm water and a mild, unscented soap, or a toy cleaner made for silicone.
- Rinse well so no soap is left behind.
- Pat it dry with a clean, lint-free towel, then let it air dry completely before you put it away.
Skip anything harsh. Alcohol, bleach, boiling water and the dishwasher can all damage silicone and electronics.
2. Know how much water it can take
Not every wand is made for the bath, so check yours before it goes near the tub:
- The Magician is fully waterproof, so the bath is fair game.
- PLAY:THREE is water-resistant. Splashes and a rinse are fine, but don't submerge it.
- For The Enchanter and PLAY:FOUR, wipe them clean with a damp cloth and keep the controls and charging point dry.
Whatever your wand, keep water away from the charging point and never charge it while it's wet.
3. Pick the right lube
Water-based lube is your wand's best friend. Silicone-based lube can react with silicone toys over time and leave the surface tacky or uneven, so save it for wands that aren't silicone. If in doubt, go water-based.
4. Charge it the smart way
- Make sure the wand is clean and completely dry before charging.
- Use the USB cable it came with.
- Unplug it once it's fully charged rather than leaving it on the cable for days.
- If it's going to sit unused for a while, give it a top-up charge every month or two so the battery doesn't run completely flat.
5. Store it somewhere cool, dry and dust-free
Once it's dry, pop it in a soft pouch (PLAY:THREE comes with a black velvet one) or a clean drawer. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat. It's also best to store silicone toys so they aren't pressed against each other, as some materials can react when they touch.
6. Give it a quick once-over now and then
Every so often, check the silicone for nicks or tears and make sure the buttons and charging point look clean. If the silicone ever looks damaged, it's time for a new wand.
The short version
- Wash with warm water and mild soap after every use.
- Check how waterproof your wand is before bath time.
- Use water-based lube.
- Charge it clean and dry.
- Store it dry, in a pouch, away from heat.
Look after it, and it'll look after you. And if you're still choosing, our guide on how to choose your wand walks you through all four.
